MS – Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

MS – Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Post-Master’s DNP – Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
The Post-Master’s DNP at Stony Brook University School of Nursing is available to MS-prepared NPs or CNMs seeking to reach the doctoral level. It is estimated at approximately ~$24,960 NY resident (42 credits minimum × ~$615/credit effective).
A gap analysis is conducted to confirm prior MS coursework and validate previously completed clinical hours. A minimum of 500 additional scholarly practice hours is required at the DNP level to meet the 1,000+ total post-baccalaureate hour requirement. Program duration is not clearly stated.

The Advanced Certificate PNP-PC at Stony Brook University School of Nursing is available to MSN- or doctorally-prepared nurses seeking to specialize in pediatric primary care.

Stony Brook University charges graduate nursing students a per-credit tuition rate as part of the SUNY system.
Rates below are for Spring 2026 and are subject to change by the SUNY Board of Trustees without advance notice.

- Non-NY State resident — base tuition: $1,125/credit
- Mandatory fees at 9 credits (full-time, NY resident): approximately $1,294/semester (activity, college, academic excellence, counseling and health, technology, transportation, and career development fees)

Accreditation
Stony Brook University School of Nursing’s programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Graduates of the MS PNP-PC and Advanced Certificate PNP-PC tracks are eligible for the Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Primary Care (CPNP-PC) exam through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) and NY State APRN licensure.
Graduates of the MS PNP-AC and Advanced Certificate PNP-AC tracks are eligible for the CPNP-AC exam through PNCB. All PNP graduates are eligible to apply for NY State APRN certification, obtain a DEA number, and receive prescription privileges upon program completion.
