The program was developed from UTA’s on-campus PNP-AC program, one of the first of its kind in the U.S. when founded in 2004. Graduates are eligible for the PNP-AC National Certification Exam through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB).
Two years of high-acuity direct patient care in the last 5 years is required — in addition to the standard 2-year RN experience requirement.

The baccalaureate, master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs and the post-graduate APRN certificate program at The University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Graduates of the PNP-PC tracks are eligible for national certification exams offered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Graduates of the PNP-AC tracks are eligible for the CPNP-AC National Certification Exam through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
Graduates are eligible to be licensed as advanced practice nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing and applicable boards in authorized states.
